How to make sauerkraut at home
Hi guys 😊 I made some sauerkraut few days a go and it turn out really good so I said way not share the recipe with you . Sauerkraut or pickled cabbage is known for its health benefits is packed with probiotics , vitamin K2 and many other nutrients . Eating sauerkraut may help strengthen your immune system and improve your digestion .
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg shredded cabbage
- 1 tbs of salt ( 1 tbs salt per 1 kg cabbage just in case you want to make more )
- Place the cabbage into a bowl and add the salt .
- Massage it together in till feels wet and leave it in the bowl for 2 hours but turn it around every 30 min .
- Get some sterilised jars and start packing your cabbage tightly by pushing everything down .
- Pour any brine left in your bowl over the cabbage and push down again to make sure everything is packed as tightly as possible . Make sure you leave some space between the top and the cabbage because it can bubble over once the fermentation had started .
- Seal your jars and leave them on the kitchen counter but not in direct sunlight .
- Taste it after 4 or 5 days and if you are happy with the taste put it in the fridge or if you like it a bit more sour seal it again and leave it to ferment a bit more .
- Once you put it in the fridge can last up to 1 year but believe me it wont last that long it is delicious , well if you like it 😀.
