Romanian butter beans spread
Hi guys 😊 this is another recipe i know from my mum 😉 with a little bit of a twist because my mum uses dried beans which she boils for hours and i use caned beans 😀 it`s a quick recipe .
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cans butter beans in water drained
- 1 big onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- salt to taste
- Place the beans into a sauce pan and cover with water, bring it to boil and let it cook for 5 min ( i know the beans are all ready cook , but the traditional recipe is made with hot boiled beans and since we cheating a bit we have to reheat them ) , drain and keep 1/2 cup of the boiling water.
- Meanwhile into a separate pan heat the oil and add the chopped onion , saute for about 5 min and then add 1 teaspoon paprika mix, turn the fire off and set aside.
- Place the beans into a food processor ( or you can use a hand blender but you put the beans into a bowl ) together with the 1/2 cup of the boiling water, 2 cloves of garlic and the oil in which you saute your onion , process until smooth and season with salt .
- Transfer the butter beans mixture to a serving bowl and place on top the saute onions . Serve on bread, or with flatbread or even with vegetable sticks 😉 .
