Tave Kosi me mish qengji Albanian roast lamb with yogurt

Hi guys 😊 after watching Rick Stein which i love and admire as a chef on BBC last saturday making this dish i thought to share my own version of the recipe which is a bit more traditional . I have to say that i know this recipe from my mother-in-law and you can also make this with chicken but i prefer lamb 😉. This recipe is for 2 people .

Traditional Albanian roast lamb with yogurt

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 lamb chops
  • 2 tbsp rice washed and drained
  • about 1 tbsp of butter
  • salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 500 g yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
METHOD

  1. First take the lamb chops, rice and butter . Place the lamb chops in roasting tray (try not to use a metal tray) , season with salt and add the rice and butter on top and the 1/2 cup of water .

Cover with aluminium foil and roast in a preheated oven at 180℃ for one hour.
  2. In the last 15 min take the foil off and put it back in the oven .
  3. Meanwhile in the 15 min prepare the yogurt mixture. Add the eggs and flour into a bowl and whisk together . After all the flour is incorporated with the eggs add the yogurt and mix together.
  4. Transfer the yogurt mixture into a sauce pan and on a medium heat , heat through but do not bring it to boil . Mix constantly with a whisk so doesn`t get stuck to the bottom of the pan .
  5. Take the lamb out from the oven, pour the warm yogurt on top and place the tray back in the oven for a further 40 min or until golden on top.

Serve hot with salad if you want but always with bread on the side 😉😊. Hope you enjoy today recipe and give it a go 😊 and i promise you won`t regret it , give it a ❤️ if you like it and follow for more 😘 💋 💖
